I went to Atlanta Pride last weekend. My company’s headquarters are in Atlanta, and I’m the Pride chair on the board for United—the LGBTQIA+ community group within the company. So I was in charge of setting up a parade-watching party for employees during Pride. They luckily paid for my hotel room, so I left North Carolina Friday afternoon and headed down to Atlanta, even with the threat of that hurricane. Saturday’s events were cancelled, but luckily the party was set for Sunday. Saturday, I woke up in the hotel room with really no plans, so I made myself a cocktail (got some bourbon delivered to the hotel) and started looking for things to do around the city. With the events cancelled for Pride that day, I knew bars would probably be pretty packed. So I googled bars around the area and found one that opened at 2 p.m. that day: Blake’s at the Park. I got ready in pup gear and started my walk from the hotel.
I got to the bar and it was pretty crowded even at 2:15 p.m. It was a blast. I opened up and talked to some people, and ended up making “friends” with a straight couple and obviously got myself some drinks. I left a bit early, around 8 p.m., made my way back to my hotel, ate, and then passed out. I was going to go back out, but with money and dealing with a company party the next day, I decided against it.
I woke up the next morning, Sunday, and made my way to headquarters to help the president of the board with decorations before we walked to the restaurant for the party. It was amazing. Many employees showed up, and I finally got to meet a good chunk of coworkers. Since I’m remote, it’s not often that I get to meet anyone. Everyone had a blast at the party, and hopefully we’ll be able to do it again next year.
I got home Sunday evening from Atlanta, and Resy is back at the house helping Rune with renovations to the bathrooms. It’s a bit of a mess, but he’s doing an amazing job with everything. It will be cool to see the finished product. Now we’re chilling and gearing up for Halloween and MFF (Midwest FurFest in Chicago, early December).
Don’t forget to check out the shop—new pins and other things are being added soon. And listen to the podcast! Our Witching Hour special series has started, and it’s pretty entertaining to listen to. Well, I’m about to record another episode, so everyone be safe and have a great weekend!
