I was going to wait a little longer to post this, but—eh, what the hell! Megaplex 2026 in Orlando, Florida is coming up fast (but then again, this year has been flying by). I attended my first Megaplex on a whim back in 2024. I had been laid off from my main job in late June of 2024 and was basically surviving on my severance and my little part-time job. I thought, what the hell—I’ll give it a try. Luckily, a local fur friend was willing to drive and give me a ride; all I had to do was get a room.
Randomly one day, someone posted on Twitter that they were looking for roommates, so I took my chance, reached out, and paid the man. Of course, knowing my luck, it was one of those great Twitter room scams that everyone has heard about. We’ll talk about that on our podcast and probably touch on it more in depth here. So I didn’t have a room, and time was running out fast.
Luckily, my friend Battercake was willing to give me a room! So I was set. Megaplex 2024 was probably one of my favorite cons. I met some amazing furs whom I still chat with, got to see friends I hadn’t seen in a while, and enjoyed the pool (of course). I was finally able to go to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando on the Sunday night of the con. I’m obsessed with Halloween, and I had been wanting to go for so long. It was absolutely worth every penny—I can’t even put into words how much fun I had, even going by myself. Granted, because I wanted to get back to the con and say goodbye to people, I kind of ran through the houses and the park.
Fast forward to Megaplex 2025. It was definitely on my list of go-to cons at that point, and I was going to room with the new friends I had met the year prior. I was also helping newer friends—now roommates—with their booth at the night market, setting up and stuff. Megaplex 2025 turned out to be even better than 2024. Again, I met amazing furs, hung out with friends, and had an amazing time. When I got to the hotel, I found out one of the guys I was rooming with had taken the liberty of paying for the upgrade to get the presidential suite, which was so amazing. The pool was great too, even with the random storms that blew through.
And the cherry on top of one of the best cons: I met one of my best friends ever, Kuda Derg. I met him in the room of my now-roommates—the guys who own the booth in the dealer’s den at a lot of the cons I go to now, The Bark Side. After getting to ourselves for a bit, we started talking and immediately I looked at him and was like, “Uh oh, we’re besties now.” We’ve been best friends ever since. He’s helped me so much through the breakup and has been amazing to hang out with and chat with about roller coasters, Halloween (especially Halloween Horror Nights), and life in general.
Megaplex definitely has been, and probably will continue to be, one of my go-to cons. I always have so much fun, with or without the pool (drama this year—even though now it is going to be open; kind of called that one). I hope I see everyone there!
