Preparing for a Con:
Frosty Edition

A last-minute packer’s convention routine, plus the little things worth double-checking before you hit the road.

I am the type of fur that always procrastinates and waits until the last minute to pack and prepare for a convention. Which isn’t the best, because I always feel like I’m forgetting something or something is left on at home when we leave. It sometimes ends up in frantic arguments and stress among the roommates and friends who are joining us on the drives to conventions.

Even when I plan, make lists, and do try to do everything ahead of time, it always ends up being the day before, into the night before, with frantic packing and double-checking that I grabbed what I needed. Even with all that trouble, I always seem to grab everything and make it to the convention in time — or at least the time I was planning on arriving. There was one convention where I did actually forget my badges, which sucks, but isn’t the end of the world. I’ve tried making lists (which do ultimately help), marking stuff down on Google Calendar, and whatever other tricks I can try, but I still end up procrastinating.

So for this year’s Megaplex, I’m going to make sure that I’m good to go with plenty of time to relax and get some rest before hitting the road. I’ll be around the convention floor, at the pool, or helping The Bark Side Shop in the adult dealer’s den. So come say hey, get some stickers, and grab hugs!

Make sure you grab IDs, wallets, badges, fursuit heads and paws, and pack weather-specific clothing!
